P.A.C.E. Public Advocacy and Community Education The goal of the PACE Committee is to provide information and create occasions for families and professionals to learn about resources and services. PACE strives to help people to learn what persons with developmental disabilities want and need in order to live successfully. They are committed to being active in community affairs and are members of many committees, boards, and public forums throughout Durham County. They also maintain a Family Resource Library at The Arc, books, periodicals, audio tapes, and other educational materials are all available for further education of the public sector. A quarterly Newsletter is also published for people concerned about developmental disabilities which is distributed to our members. The newsletter provides news, relevant information and a calendar of events for the three month interval in an entertaining and educational format. The Arc of the US also has a resource list for many states, including North Carolina. They have an interactive chat room with many topics as well as information on acquiring services.
