I now know after two decades of first hand experiences as a parent of a young man with a cognitive disability that my son and millions of others with intellectual disabilities will present serious dilemmas with negative repercussions for professionals in the criminal justice system who lack training on how to recognize, respond well and make adjustments for this population in field, investigative and criminal justice settings."
