Moving to NC

Posted by The Arc of North Carolina

If you are considering a move to North Carolina, you aren’t alone. According to a recent article in Business Insider, over 70,000 people moved to our state between 2016 and 2017. Job opportunities, stellar universities, and easy access to both the beach and mountains make North Carolina a great place to live.

We get a lot of questions from interested families on the availability of supports and services in North Carolina for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We have created a resource that can be used to help you determine if there are services and supports available for your family. There are many organizations across the state that work with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and their families.

Relocation to another state can be challenging – leaving behind what’s familiar to live in a new home and new city. We want to make this transition easier for you. If you have questions regarding supports and services available in North Carolina for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, please feel free to contact us directly.
