Resource Advocate

Do you want to make a difference in a person’s life? The Arc of North Carolina seeks passionate, compassionate, hard-working individuals to support people of all ages with I/DD throughout North Carolina.

Location: Salisbury, Greensboro, and surrounding areas

Education Requirements: High School diploma or GED, with current driver’s license, and pass background checks.

Experience Requirements: The Arc of North Carolina is seeking a dedicated, passionate advocate to support people of all ages with intellectual and developmental disabilities on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities: Through the provision of Medicaid funded Community Navigator services, Resource Advocate will assist in locating community resources, navigating systems of support, and making community connections. This may include participating in school meetings/IEPs, assisting with housing, benefits, and future planning, as well as locating recreational and volunteer opportunities. Creativity, progressive thinking, strong advocacy skills, and knowledge of community resources are highly desirable.

Supports Manager - 2 Open Positions

Do you want to make a difference in a person’s life? The Arc of North Carolina seeks passionate, compassionate, hard-working individuals to support people of all ages with I/DD throughout North Carolina.

Education Requirements: Candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in a related field and two years of full-time experience post-baccalaureate in the field of developmental disabilities and must meet the qualifications a Qualified Professional.

Experience Requirements: Candidate must be a motivated team player, flexible, creative, hardworking, and organized, as well as have excellent problem solving and communications skills.  Candidate must also have solid computer skills and should possess a thorough knowledge of person-centered thinking and state and federal regulations. Experience with clinical supervision, problem solving, and solid knowledge of all aspects of Community Guide and Community Navigator services.

Responsibilities: The Supports Manager will supervise Resource Advocates (6-8), provide clinical supervision, training, mentoring and guidance to assure quality services are provided.  Support Manager in Resource Advocacy will be responsible for training new Resource Advocates, serve as back up during leave or identify coverage as needed, performance evaluations as well as other duties as assigned.

Area Guardianship Specialist

The Arc of NC is seeking an Area Guardianship Specialist. Candidate must be a motivated team player, flexible, creative and hardworking, as well as have excellent problems solving and communication skills.

Education Requirements: A degree and experience in human services is preferred. Candidate must also have solid computer skills; knowledge of self-determination principles and person-centered outcome-based practices is a plus.

Experience Requirements: Candidate must have professional experience in the field of I/DD and or Mental Health. Candidate must have some knowledge of social work principles, techniques, practices, and their application to individual needs and challenges. The ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and written, and plan and execute work effectively.

Responsibilities: An Area Guardianship Specialist provides guardianship support and services in compliance with the NC General Statute Chapter 35A. It requires substitute decision making, assisting individuals with informed decisions, advocating, monitoring, reporting, service record maintenance, relationship building, liaison activities and sometimes the ability to mediate challenging positions. Candidate will be required to travel to residential facilities, home of wards, other settings and requires the ability to work independently.

Support Associate (Direct Care Staff)

Education Requirements: High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities: Providing breaks for caregivers, assistance with personal care, teaching skills to increase independence, promoting inclusion in the community. Related experience in direct care or special education is preferred but not required. Creativity, progressive thinking, strong advocacy skills, and knowledge of community resources are highly desirable. Qualified applicants must be 18 or older, current driver’s license, and pass background checks.
